Do Your Research

How do you choose a newborn photographer in South Bend and the surrounding area? Or any area for that matter! As a first time pregnant mom, there is so much to learn about! It can be overwhelming when you Google, “best newborn photographer” and a long list pops up. You could try “newborn photographer around me”, “newborn photographer South Bend”, “Baby Photographer Mishawaka” or “Goshen Newborn Photography Studio”, etc. Another way is to ask your friends who have recently been pregnant and had a new baby for their recommendations. Both methods will definitely give you a starting point. But what else do you need to know? You’re going to be looking at your beautiful baby’s pictures for years to come, so doing your research is important.

You really do deserve to be pampered! There is so much involved with birth and recovering from it that you do not need other responsibilities. You want the best for your baby and you want to make sure you can remember all of their sweet details – tiny fingers, itty bitty toes, little smiles…without having to do it all yourself. You also want your baby to be photographed by someone who you can trust to pose your baby safely and understand your little one’s cues.

Three Reasons to Not DIY Your Newborn Photos

Of course, you can do your own newborn portraits, but as a Mama of three babies and also a newborn photographer…even I didn’t do my own. I’m so glad I didn’t even try! Why not, you ask? Here are my top reasons for hiring an experienced photographer for your baby’s portrait session. Here at Always Images, we make sure all of them are taken care of for you so you don’t have to worry about anything!

  1. Birth is Hard. Really hard. Both natural and medicated birth are tough on our bodies. Amazing, but tough. Your body needs to recover. You don’t want to have to worry about bending over or squatting down to try and take pictures. As a nurse, I’ve seen many babies come into the world and every Mama has to recover. Since the best time for newborn portraits is in the first two weeks after birth, you won’t be feeling 100% for awhile.
  2. You want to be in those newborn pictures, not behind the camera. These images we create together will be a treasure. Even if you don’t think you will want to be in them. We’re going to make you feel amazing when we do them! With our beautiful gowns in our client closet and by having hair and make-up done for your session…you’ll truly be pampered and gorgeous!
  3. Finished Artwork. Someday, when you sit down with your little one in your lap with their newborn album to show them “when they were a tiny baby”, you’ll be so glad your newborn portraits were not just on a hard drive somewhere. You’ll have an album to look at and framed pictures on the wall to show them exactly how small they once were when they were born.
