Always Images has been a Culver Academies Preferred Photographer since 2012 — and Upper Camp holds a special place in our story. Becky’s own children are current Woodcraft campers, and watching them grow through the Culver experience is exactly why she understands what these portraits mean to a family. Her husband, Ed Furry, attended Culver Upper Camp (Naval ’89) and has taught on campus as a sailing instructor over the years. Whether the journey begins at Woodcraft or Upper Camp, we know how much this program means — because we’re living it too.

For many Culver families, the story begins at Woodcraft and continues into Upper Camp. Watching a child grow from a young Woodcraft camper (those little Bronze Butterflies and Cubs without any patches are so adorable), to earning a final rank as an Upper Camp leader is one of the great privileges of photographing Culver families over the years. Always Images has been there for both chapters — and everything in between.

Upper Camp is a three-year journey for teenagers built around military structure, leadership, and the kind of growth that’s hard to put into words — but easy to see in a photograph. The changes for each child from day one, until they walk through the Culver Summer gate at graduation are immense.

Third Class Summer is where it begins. Your child is learning the ropes, finding their footing, and discovering what Culver Upper Camp is all about. These early portraits capture the beginning of a story worth telling. Don’t be afraid to reach out if they are new this year!

Second Class Summer is where leadership starts to take shape. Rank is emerging, responsibilities are growing, and the confidence that defines a Culver camper is becoming unmistakable. Color Guard is one of the most special ranks to be obtained during this Summer. This is one that shouldn’t be forgotten and where growth physically and emotionally shows in their portraits.

First Class Summer is the culmination. Your child earned their final rank, stepped into leadership, and is living the Culver Upper Camp experience at its fullest. Garrison Parade on Saturday evenings are perfect moments to show this in their album. Regimental Staff. Drill Team. Ledbetter Crew. First Solo Flight. Honor Drums. Summer Lancer Platoon. These are the moments that define their Culver Summer legacy — and the ones you’ll want preserved forever.

With our Upper Camp Portraits, we tie in event coverage to show your camper’s achievements in Garrison Parade and more.
